The beautiful Provo River is one of the finest trout fisheries in North America. It flows from Utah’s highest mountain range, the Uinta Mountains, through several canyons and mountain valleys and eventually empties into Utah Lake, the state’s largest freshwater lake. The Provo’s meanders, riffles, and runs take it directly through the Heber/Midway area, near Park City and Salt Lake City, and through the city of Provo itself. The Provo River is divided into 3 sections: the Lower Provo River, the Middle Provo River, and the Upper Provo River. All of these sections have great trout fishing but the Lower and Middle sections, which are trophy tailwaters, receive the most attention from anglers due to their high trout populations, trophy trout fishing, and accessibility.
